Week 8

I’m going to start with this: It was strange to leave Koh PhaNgan, and this is why:

On our little paradise beach we met Will, a writer from the UK and a perfect match because of his dark humor and warm personality. (Read: loves to drink cocktails, feast on good food and discuss the worlds drama) Our first night out together we went to this amazing French restaurant on the beach. All I wanted was a cheese platter and some good red wine, but with the company and the cocktails I got so much more. I loved it!

I also met the owner of BeacHub, Matt. Cool, relaxed young guy filled with ambition. Because he just opened this new co-working space he asked me if I could take some photo’s of the place. In return I got the best Tuna I have eaten in a while.

After visiting Phangan Spirits brewery we made an appointment to come back in 3 years. The owner opened special for us and gave us a little tour and a Lot of tasting. He even pulled out his personal (not for sale) special brew with oak wood. He’s going to make for us a special brew too and leave it for 3 years to ripe and throw us a party when we come back.

Our last day on this magical Island Will took us to the Phaeng Waterfall. It was a little hike up but so worth it. The dip in the clear cold water, the picknick and the company isn’t something I will easy forget.

So saying goodbye in the morning felt a bit strange. Almost like we didn’t want to leave. But the next adventure was waiting for us. We are now on Koh Samui. 5 times bigger than PhaNgan so we rented a car to explore. So nice for a change, not being all sweaty on the back of a scooter or depending on little buses that drop you off in the middle of nowhere. First we went to the Na Muang waterfall. What we didn’t know that this was in a “safari” park where they do all these crazy stuff with animals: elephant riding, monkey shows and getting your picture taken with a tiger… If we did we’d probably hadn’t been there and missed the beautiful waterfall. After that we drove to the secret buddha garden. And last stop Chaweng Beach. This is very touristic and even has a big shopping mall with cinema, great to escape the heat and went to see Batman vs Superman.

Tomorrow it’s time to say goodbye again, but this time to Thailand because we are flying to Bali!
